Calendar blocking for monthly rental owners
Manage monthly rental availability with selected-date blocks, whole-calendar pauses, imported calendars and a checklist that preserves paid listing terms.
A rental calendar should describe when you can actually offer the space. Maintenance, a confirmed stay and personal use can all make dates unavailable without ending the property's long-term value as a listing. Keep availability decisions separate from the paid listing period and from restrictions that only the platform can resolve.
Choose the right kind of block
Use a selected-date block when you know the unavailable interval. Examples include a scheduled repair, an agreed stay or a specific period of owner use. Use a whole-calendar block when the end date is not known or you do not want enquiries for any stay until you manually reopen the calendar.
On Month ‘n’ More, a whole-calendar block remains in place until the owner unblocks it. Removing that lock does not remove individual date blocks, imported calendar restrictions or admin and emergency restrictions. It also does not restart the original paid listing term.
Enter the end date correctly
The website's date-range control includes the final blocked day. The mobile control asks for the available-again date, which is the first day after the blocked interval. Read the control's label before saving instead of assuming both end fields mean the same thing.
For example, if December 12, 13 and 14 are unavailable, the website's last blocked day is December 14. In the mobile available-again field, use December 15. Check the saved range and public calendar rather than relying only on the success message.
Keep blocks tied to real commitments
- Confirm the listing and rented space you are changing.
- Distinguish proposed dates from an actual commitment.
- Record why an interval is unavailable in your own operational notes.
- Allow adequate time for any needed cleaning or maintenance.
- Recheck availability when an agreed stay changes.
- Review future blocks before accepting an extension.
Calendar visibility is not a rental agreement or a payment record. Keep the agreed renter terms separately, and do not assume an open calendar confirms a room type's actual inventory.
Understand imported calendars
Connected calendars can contribute unavailable ranges. Those imported ranges are managed through their feed, rather than removed as ordinary manual blocks. Disabling a connection can conservatively retain existing blocks; removing a feed clears that feed's imported dates, not unrelated owner blocks.
After an outside calendar changes, refresh it through the available controls and inspect the result. A connected feed is not a guarantee of instant synchronization across every service. Check its status and any reported error before relying on it to prevent overlapping commitments.
Reopen only what you intend to reopen
If you remove a whole-calendar lock, inspect remaining blocks before telling someone all dates are free. A manual interval or an imported booking may still make the renter's requested dates unavailable.
Likewise, an admin hold, an emergency restriction, pending review or an expired paid term has its own resolution process. A calendar action should not be used to bypass it. Owners can preserve the same listing within its original eligible term, rather than creating a replacement merely to change availability.
Verify across devices and public views
After a change, check the saved calendar in the owner's listing controls. If moving between website and mobile, revisit the calendar so it loads current state. Public property availability refreshes, but do not assume every already-open screen changes at the exact same instant.
Before confirming a stay, compare the entire proposed interval with the current calendar and actual property commitments. One open arrival date is not enough if the following weeks are blocked.
Make the calendar part of a routine
Review availability whenever a stay, repair or owner-use plan changes. List a furnished monthly property and keep its calendar aligned with real availability. Renters can search monthly stays for their dates, then confirm the arrangement with the owner rather than treating the calendar as an automatic reservation.
Put your preparation into a clear listing.
